For a Team to qualify for a Trophy in the Fastest Pull and Lowest Combined Weight Categories:

Competition Rules

  1. No more than 20 Pullers may be on the Rope (no minimum).
  2. Pullers on the Rope must be Registered and at least 8 years old, with a parent/guardian on the same team.

Each Puller may ONLY pull for one team at the competition. Event Officials have the right to disqualify ALL teams an individual has pulled for. The Team Captain is responsible for ensuring that Pullers on their team have not/will not pull for any other team at the competition.

The Team Captain will indicate when the team is ready on the rope. Timing Official will blast an Air Horn will start the pull, and the timing will begin! If an Event Official declares a false start, the team will be notified to cease pulling, no time will be recorded. If this occurs during the fastest pull attempt, the team will be allowed to reset and attempt their second pull. If an Official determines a false start has also occurred on the second pull attempt, the team will be allowed to complete that pull; however, the Official will notify the team captain upon completion of that pull that the second false start was declared. The team will have a 2-second penalty added to that Fastest Pull time.

If a Team wishes to register a dispute over the conduct of any element of the competition, the Team Captain must immediately and personally present the dispute to the Event Director or one of the Event Officials. The Event Director and Officials can meet to discuss the dispute and will report back to the Team Captain. This decision will be considered final – no appeals will be entertained.

Event Flow

TEAM CAPTAIN (ONLY) Checks-in TEAM

Check-in times are randomly scheduled about two weeks in advance. Captain goes to Check-in Tent when all members of the team are present and ready to compete. PLEASE do NOT go to check-in more than 15 minutes in advance of your scheduled time.

Final Team Competition Roster (maximum of 20) is determined. See first bullet point of the Competition Rules on Page 2 for details. Onsite Registration Forms will be available to handle changes.

Each team will be assigned a competition number. This will be written on their Team Photo Sign which must be used for their Official Team Photo.

Captain distributes t-shirts (unless received in advance), wristbands and any other items to their team. Pullers must wear their wristbands all times.

Team must then stay together and be ready when called for escort to the Staging Area. If your team is not ready when called, the next team may be called and you will have to wait to compete. Average time from check-in to end of competition is about 30 minutes.

Team Staging Area

Team name and competition # will be checked, wristbands will be checked, and rules will be reviewed. Teams will pull in competition # order and be escorted to the On-Deck Area when called.

Team On-Deck Area

Once all members are in the “On Deck” Area, they will be held until called for their Team Photo.

 Team Photo Session

Competition # and/or team name must be visible in at least one photo.

Competition on the Rope

After the photos, the team will be called to advance to the plane for their competitions on the rope. It is recommended that Pullers wear gloves. We’ll have some to borrow.

1) Fastest Pull Captain should let the Officials know when the team is on the rope and ready. Officials will then sound the horn to signal the start. Team pulls the aircraft to the 12 foot mark. Best result of 3 timers will be selected as the final number.

2) Lowest Combined Weight (LCW) Pull Start with a few strong, lean individuals, add members until either the 12 foot mark or the 2-minute limit is reached, whichever comes first. All other team members must stay inside the Stand-by Pen.

Immediately, all members who participated on the rope in the LCW Pull will be escorted to the scale for Weigh-In. Members may not remove any clothing or equipment they wore during participation (such as gloves, shoes, belts, etc.). Once the LCW group has been weighed, officials remove wristbands. The team must leave the competition area and return to spectator areas.
